Why Dark Age Press?
Our aim is to bring the novel back to the bookstore where it belongs, and this means prising it from the cold, electronic pincers of the corporations that have almost single-handedly destroyed the book industry in favor of market shares and metrics. We here at Dark Age Press work to bring life and vibrancy back into the book business. This means joining a family where not only do we aim to sell books, but we also look to support the families and friends that bookstores create. Books are about people connecting with people and about great stories. This is what we are about — great stories, great times, friends, and a family — the bookstore family. When I look at the independent bookstore and see the rich vibrancy found in each one, I say to myself that I want to join that community. I want to be a part of that family.
Our model does not aim at cranking out cash. Our model does not ignore our duty and responsibility to bookstores, authors, and the public. Our model does not do metrics. We leave these things to the faceless, soulless, husks walking this Earth.
We have a business model, of course. Why? We do in fact need to make a profit, but not at the cost of others. We mostly try to limit our profit so that others can enjoy their hard-earned rewards. So, what is our model? We seek out really well written books that people love. Sometimes, we may publish a book that has a small market and sometimes we may publish something that everyone on the planet wants to read. Either way, everyone can rest assured that we strive for fabulous written works that have solid grammar and composition. And for literary fiction, we set the bar even higher. Literary fiction makes us think and evaluate who we are and how our society is and, perhaps, should be. Moreover, we want symbolism, allegory, allusion, and metaphor. We want more. We do because bookstores and the reading public deserve it. Above and beyond all of this, our books must be entertaining. They will be the kind of book that you can’t put down and can’t stop thinking about and talking about. This is where we aim so that our family of sellers and readers can pick up one of our books and know without a doubt that it is an excellent book.

Our full time staff has many talents in many areas. We also have other people we work with from time to time to ensure everything we produce is of the finest quality.
Kevin Pajak

He has worked with such giants as Calliope Games, Spiral Arm Studios (producers of Maelstrom’s Edge), Frey Games, and various authors. His work also includes marketing, graphic design, printing, sales, as well as content editor, copy editor, technical editor, proofreader, academic editor, acquisitions editor, patent editor, and editor-in-chief. James Perry
Senior Editor
James is not one to toot his own horn, but he began his love of writing in high school when he really should have been studying. In the years since, he has continued to write, and more recently has reviewed numerous written academic projects, and edited and composited one commercial work.
Jerry Roberson
Director of Submissions
Jerry has been reading books of most genres since he was a teenager. The volume of books read under his belt will fill most libraries’ sci-fi, fantasy, and literary fiction shelves. The singular thing about Jerry is that he can read a whole novel in one or two days, should he choose to do so. This mammoth amount of books read gives him the knowledge and skill to discern character development, plot structure, proper scene description, proper language composition, and overall story structure. It is with these skills that he joins Dark Age Press. Authors will work closely with Jerry at times as he is the first one of our staff they will encounter.
