Captain-General Samuel Marik was not above using subtle (some would say treacherous means) to win
his battles for him. On the Liao front, the Marik scored a clever diplomatic coup when his agents convinced
Vincente Sian-Marik, a distant cousin of the Marik line and Administrator of five world in the Sarna Commonality
(Ohrensen, Ventabren, Suzano, Zion, Kyrkbacken) to sign a treaty transferring his allegiance to the Free Worlds.
Marik forces occupied these world in 2941, but not before the departing Liao garrisons made the Free Worlds
League pay dearly for its cleverness. The Capellans conducted a brutal "scorched earth" operation that caused
widespread destruction and saddled the Free Worlds economy with a major - and costly rebuilding effort.
Ventabren was originally part of the Free Worlds League. Ventabren never became part of The Republic. After
the fall of the HPG Network Fortress Republic was created and many of the worlds under its control were set
* After the creation of the Oriente Territory Ventabren eventually decided to join the Oriente Territory.
They are still in negotiations to this day and have not yet been made officially part of the Oriente, even though
ComStar Cartographers list them as part of the Oriente. The planetary governor is in charge of the negotiations
and his ability to obtain the best treaty have surpassed the abilities of the Oriente's emissary, it is unlikely that,
what has become known as, the Ventabren Accords will ever be signed. However, as part of the process the
governor has secured an agreement for indefinite military aid from the Oriente Territory.
